LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--justfly.com, a Momentum Ventures company and leading online travel agency that allows consumers to search for and book cost-effective travel-related services, has today unveiled its latest survey findings. The survey sheds light on the growing trend of music and concert tourism. Conducted with 2,000 U.S. respondents, its findings highlight how music is influencing travel decisions, with 76% of participants indicating they would travel to another city or country for a concert or music festival if tickets were easier to obtain.
“Music has the unique ability to inspire exploration and create lifelong memories,” said Henri Chelhot, CEO of justfly.com. “These survey results emphasize how integral music is not only to our personal experiences but also to the way we choose our travel destinations.”
The survey uncovered various intriguing components, including music’s relation to travel nostalgia; how music is a catalyst for motivation; and the rise of festival tourism. These are the key discoveries:
Travel Nostalgia Evoked by Music
More than half of respondents (64%) reported that specific songs or music genres remind them of past vacations. This is especially true for those aged 25-34, with a substantial 75% of this age group agreeing with this sentiment.
Moreover, 63% said certain music makes them want to visit specific locations. This same age group of those aged 25-34 also led the charge on this front, with 76% in agreement.
This correlation between nostalgia and music indicates that by listening to a certain song, travelers are more driven to revisit previous destinations where they hold fond memories. In addition, they’re also more likely to explore destinations thanks to the indirect, lyrical recommendations of their favorite artists.
Inspiring Destination Appeal with the Power of Music
Of the 2,000 respondents, 42% are likely to travel to destinations mentioned in popular songs. Destinations referenced in infamous lyrics or associated with a genre, such as Nashville for country music or Jamaica for reggae, hold powerful appeal for music enthusiasts.
Festival Tourism
Among those willing to travel for a concert or music festival, the average amount they would spend (excluding ticket costs) is $1,800. 61% agreed that music festivals are becoming the new reason to travel, though opinions remain mixed on their impact. While 70% believe concerts and festivals positively affect host cities, 54% feel such events can overwhelm the authenticity of destinations, transforming them into party hotspots.
This consensus proves that events like Coachella and Tomorrowland attract attendees from all over the world, offering not just music but cultural experiences that enrich their journey.
justfly.com’s survey underscores the evolving relationship between music and travel. With exciting tours confirmed in 2025 by artists like Bad Bunny, Maroon 5, and Katy Perry, cities and destinations are poised to reap the benefits of increased visibility and economic activity. Chelhot added, “As music tourism grows, our team at justfly.com is committed to making travel more accessible and affordable for music lovers who are eager to follow their favorite artists and festivals around the globe.”
